What legacy are you building with your leadership?

This prompt doesn’t ask what role you have, how many people follow you, or what goals you’ve hit.

It asks something deeper: When your leadership is remembered—what will it stand for? Legacy isn’t about fame or titles. It’s about impact. The tone you set. The lives you’ve touched. The values you’ve passed on—not through words, but through your actions. Your legacy is being built every day, whether you realize it or not.

Philosophers like Marcus Aurelius urged leaders to ask not “How will I be remembered?” but “Am I living in a way worth remembering?” The Stoics believed that legacy is a byproduct of your own virtues: humility, courage, justice, and self-discipline.

Think about the leaders who shaped you. What stuck with you wasn’t just what they did, but how they did it—how they made you feel, how they showed up when it mattered, how they held themselves accountable.

What kind of ripple are you creating? Are you building a legacy of fear or trust? Control or growth? Pressure or purpose?

Your legacy isn’t written someday in the future. It’s being written now, in the way you lead today. Lead with that in mind—and the legacy will take care of itself.
