The study
This meta-analysis covered 91 samples with 38,124 employees. Being able to detach from work in free time was linked with less exhaustion, higher life satisfaction, better well-being and sleep, and less fatigue. Higher job demands went with less detachment. These were correlations, so they show a link, not cause and effect.
Starting small
A small ritual can mark the end of the workday. Closing the laptop, writing tomorrow's first task down, or taking a short walk can help draw a line between work and the rest of the evening.
